Hotel Confidential, Volume I

Las Alcobas Napa Valley

If you love hotels like we do, you relish in the latest and greatest in luxury hotels. Whether it is seeing a classic hotel reborn, or a brand new property emerge in an iconic destination. Fortunately for us hotel aficionados, this month we have a combination of both. Three properties that should be on your radar are Las Alcobas in Napa Valley, Hotel Eden Rome, and the Four Seasons Anguilla.

Napa Valley has longed for a new property, and Las Alcobas answers the call with its opening in early 2017. The second property under the Las Alcobas brand, it originates from the Mexico City flagship; which is hard to argue is anything but the quintessential experience, and should be your first choice when visiting Mexico City. I share this because the Napa Valley property is hatched from that ownership group who are synonymous with service and authenticity, in the destination with an impeccable culinary vision. The Napa property located in the heart of St. Helena, will offer the consummate Napa experience, with a spa carefully crafted to invite a respite from the indulgence of food and wine. I am lucky enough to have toured the property, and am happy to report that both the rooms and the suites are comfortably modern and curated to offer guests the perfect escape, be it for a romantic weekend or a corporate retreat. Part of the Starwood Luxury Collection, and more importantly one of our Starwood Luxury Privileges Partners, delivering our guests an inside track on the best values and extras.

Across the globe in Rome a star is reborn at the Hotel Eden, a Dorchester Collection Hotel. While this is a complete refurbishment, it really will open as a new property, having been closed for a head-to-toe makeover. Strategically located just off the Via Veneto and a stone's throw from the Spanish Steps. The hallmark of this property in its prior form was it's rooftop bar and restaurant, that rumor has it will emerge better than ever, showcasing views of the Roman rooftops. If it's anything like it's sister market leading properties in other cities such as the Plaza Athenee in Paris or the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, you can expect the Hotel Eden to stand out as the most outstanding hotel in Rome, and if anything it will certainly be a much needed fresh inventory in a city desperate for a fresh face. “The return of the iconic Hotel Eden will mark a new era in Roman luxury hospitality! With the strength of our roots and maestria we will bring to a new level the guests' journey, delivering a variety of true and authentic experiences for all," says General Manager, Luca Virgilio. The hiring of Virgilio says volumes about the exquisite product guests can expect when the Hotel Eden opens. As a Dorchester Diamond Club member, enjoy the ultra VIP experience when you book with us.

While not a new property, it begs a mention as a hot list property because of the rebranding of The Viceroy Anguilla as a Four Seasons Resorts & Residences Anguilla. Already a sexy Caribbean hot-spot, with the Four Seasons at the helm you can expect some new upgrades when the property reopens October 20. Just in case you need more enticement to stay there's a special introductory offer, a third complimentary night is added with two consecutive nights paid between October 20 and December 15, 2016. In 2017, the Stay Longer package includes a complimentary fifth night when four consecutive nights are booked (blackout dates may apply). Our Four Seasons Preferred Partner amenities include extra perks that will enhance your stay. General manager Ilse Harley says, "Combining the Four Seasons service standards with the Anguillan culture, rich with heart and soul, makes this a perfect partnership on this magical island in the Caribbean." And yes, there is still festive availability with an added bonus: The Experience More credit is based on room category – USD 500 for one-bedroom suites, USD 800 for four-bedroom oceanfront villas, and USD 1,000 for five-bedroom villas, per stay. This offer is available for stays between December 17, 2016 and January 5, 2017. Minimum 10-night stay required.

We welcome the opportunity to help you plan your visit so you can be one of the first to experience one of these fantastic new properties.
